Marathon

A great day to have a marathon, Isis and I were raring to go and after trying to get a good nights sleep ( difficult with Jennelle sleeping with us at my folks place) but we got up at 5 am and headed over to Portland for the start. cool out but not cold. With a 7 am start we headed out and what a sight...something like 5000 runners. I mean the difference between bike racing with a hundred cyclists and thousand's of runners was enormous. we set a pretty easy pace for the first half as we were concerned we would need some energy later and it seemed from our splits that we stayed pretty consistent. Isis and I ran together for about the first 12 miles and then got separated at a bathroom stop. I was out front for miles 14- 1999 where she caught me a passed me when we met Scott and Melissa. Scott ran with me the last 6 miles and it really made a difference in motivation since I was hurting. Not out of breath or anything just pain in muscles and joints that I did not know that I had. I finished in about 4 hours and 40 minutes and Isis finished about 5 minutes ahead of me. I am pretty sure she has been getting up and doing secret training at 2 in the morning because she looked great the whole race!!!!!!!
Great experience by all and much appreciation to everyone that helped us reach our goal of finishing.
